“Closing the Gap on Disparities in the Distribution of the COVID-19 Vaccine in South Dallas”

Dallas, Tx – January 26, 2021

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Dallas Metropolitan Chapter (NCBW) is concerned with disparities in the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine and the dissemination of information to communities of color in the southern sector ofDallas, more specifically women of color in these areas. We believe addressing these disparities should be among the city’s top health priorities. In support of these communities, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Dallas Metropolitan Chapter will continue to advocate for policies that provide for education and awareness about COVID-19 and access to the vaccine in these areas.

We recognize that there is distrust amongst the Black community as it relates to the COVID-19 vaccine and there is a need for city officials and the community to work collaboratively to address these concerns while almost simultaneously working toward a solution for the disparities in the distribution of the vaccine. We implore city and county officials to work collaboratively with trusted sources including local community and religious leaders, area black-owned businesses, minority media outlets, and organizations such as ours to help disseminate factual information regarding the science and safety protocols behind the creation of the vaccine to residents of South Dallas.
