• Advocating On Behalf of Black Women and Girls in the Dallas Area!


Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Black/African American female.
  • Be a senior graduating during the 2019-2020 school year from a Dallas/Ft. Worth high school.
  • Have a minimum cumulative 2.5 on a 4.0 scale Grade Point Average (GPA) at the time of application.
  • Have been accepted to an accredited institution of higher learning, a two or four-year college, university, or technical/vocational school at the time of scholarship application. (Provide evidence of acceptance, i.e., copy of acceptance letter, etc.)

Application Selection Criteria and Submission Procedure

For scholarship consideration applicants must submit the following information to the NCBW Dallas Scholarship Committee before or by April 1, 2020:

  1. A completed application packet. Incomplete applications will not be considered, no exceptions.
  2. An official sealed transcript submitted with completed application.
  3. A letter of interest: introducing yourself; your interest; your school, humanitarian acts of kindness you have done for your community, and/or religious activities you currently participate in (One page double spaced maximum).
  4. Describe your plans for the future and why you feel African-American women are influential to our society. (One page double spaced maximum)
  5. Two sealed letters of recommendation (one reference provided by school personnel and one from a member of the community – non-family members).
  6. A copy of the applicant’s completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or other approved documentation.
  7. A picture.

Scholarship Awards

Two (2) awards in the amount of $1,500.00. The awards will be sent directly to the recipient’s school upon verification of enrollment.

NOTE: Immediate family members of NCBW Dallas members are ineligible to apply.

Application Deadline

The application, with required materials, must be postmarked before or by April 1, 2020.
